3D acceleration support available according to free3d.org
ciado por prvteprts, 04:57, 5 Maio 2011
http://www.free3d.org/ says this card already has 3D acceleration with the "ATI" driver and X.Org 1.8.1.902. I believe this is rather new - have to upgrade xorg and see what happens.
Not available with free software only

3d acceleration does not work here since the driver needs non-free firmware not included with Linux-libre.

I confirm that 3D does not work without the non-free firmware.

More information on 3-D acceleration

This GPU needs non-free ME and PFP microcode for 3-D acceleration. I think AMD now has three (previously two) programmers working on the free radeon driver, and they're already having trouble keeping up, so I don't expect the microcode to be freed anytime soon...

Firmware

It's not due to lack of programmers, see https://trisquel.info/en/forum/3d-and-free-software-trisquel#comment-4170 for details.
DRM...

Ah, I see... Come to think of it, I had heard that DRM used on other OSes was the issue, but I hadn't seen the Phoronix thread mentioned in that Trisquel thread. Thanks!
