While not being free, the BIOS is fully featured with no hidden settings. VTx can be activated, and unused devices can be deactivated. The X201 supports coreboot (http://www.coreboot.org/Board:lenovo/x201)
All FN keys can be bound, excepted acpi functions and zoom. The Keysyms are already defined. Previous and Next next to the arrow keys work too.
ACPI functions shortcuts work OOTB. Suspend and hibernation using systemd as well.
Scrolling requires extra Xorg configuration (see https://wiki.debian.org/InstallingDebianOn/Thinkpad/Trackpoint).
This is a Qualcomm Gobi 2000. It requires Microsoft Windows in order to activate the GPS (thinkvantage), getting firmwares files can be done using wine. (http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/Qualcomm_Gobi_2000)
The Wifi adapter uses a non-free firmware. Packet injection is supported.
