Hei math3z, are you really sure that the 3d acceleration works with trisquel 4.5?

Hai Antonio, first of all thank you for your mail reply; and yep desktop is finally accelerated, I've managed to get Compiz running smooth & out-of-the-box, and even games or software which previously teared or locked-up machine are running well e.g. Hedgewars or Mixxx DJ-ing software. Though overall performance in highly-demanding 3D apps may vary and show poorer. Alas Gnash can sometimes screw everything. Still I am not sure whether Gallium3D component is in use, because I could not see it listed in lsmod command output. All in all the only thing I have to test later will be playback of any HD movie.

So, how is the behaivor of the machine. Could you recommend it?

Greetings Ark74, it's a pretty stable machine beginning with deployment of Trisquel GNU/Linux-libre version 4.5 codenamed Slaine and I presume it will get even better with newer and more up-to-date releases, though a lot depends on actual state of included Nouveau driver, Gnash player and related CPU usage, bug-fixes within easy-slow-down-manager project (actually latest kernels from 2.6.35-xx branch evoke back-light / brightness level regulation issues). You know personally that regaining complete software freedom demands certain sacrifices, however when you realize that fact, then you'll be way more careful next time while buying high-tech hardware. Generally said, I cannot recommend you this model only in case of really poor and not-long-lasting battery (around three hours with e.g. half of LED luminosity value and disabled WiFi).

I've read your comments on this model, and i was thinking that maybe it is necessary to change the distro you stated to use in order to have the Platinum compatibility level or lower that level to B - Gold since Trisquel 4.5 has some issues on the video drivers side.

Parabola is also listed on the distros to be tested. Or if you wanna wait, maybe the next release of Trisquel will do the job :)
