Kernel 3.1 and higher should work, but you might be able to support older versions (untested).
3D acceleration can be enabled but this is not a gaming laptop by any stretch of the imagination.
Not yet tested with Libreboot.
Great cheap laptop, small, 11 inches. Can be gotten for $200-300 USD. Keyboard is cheap and noisy. May not survive a fall. Bluetooth might should work (supported by ath9k module) but good luck configuring it. it without gnome. Easy to repair, and replace parts, upgradeable SSD (recommend 256 GB). 1 USB 2.0 port, 1 USB 3.0 port, 1 HDMI, 1 audio jack, 1 keylock, 1 SD slot. c720 and c720p are identical but c720p has a WORKING TOUCHSCREEN in linux-libre 4.4.6. which bumps its freedom score up to platinum. Also has a light sensor but you need to recompile the linux-libre kernel with CONFIG_SENSORS_ISL29018 enabled (untested).
