Does it really makes sense to add a 'switch' category? If the switch isn't a computer (no management features) then it's automatically compatible with the standards it support. This is typically done by having a switch IC and no processor on the switch itself. This architecture is documented in a hack where someone connected an arduino to the switch IC to control it to add management features.
