In some cases, when using the "lspci" command, it outputs both "VGA compatible controller" and "Display controller". The help page suggests that we should use either when adding a device to i-node. Both lines are usually very similar, as they correlate to the same device, but their ProductID code always differ.
As an example, I did run into a similar output with several devices:
VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc RV350 AS [Radeon 9550] [1002:4153] Display controller: ATI Technologies Inc RV350 AS [Radeon 9550] [1002:4173] (Secondary)
What should one do in those cases? Which of the two should I fill into the "VendorID:ProductID" field?
I know there are cases where there's no "Display controller", so maybe it's best to use the "VGA compatible controller" only? But I'm not completely sure that there aren't cases when the opposite is true (there's only "Display controller").
I suggest, if no one can refute that there's always a "VGA compatible controller" output, the help page should be rewritten to tell readers to only look for "VGA compatible controller", and maybe even warn them to not take reference from the "Display controller".
If one refutes my claim, then we should agree on which of the two to fill in, when they are both present.
