Question
While launching Ubuntu in X10 DP/UP boards with nVidia GPU cards, I can see the AST, aspeed, driver checking ast_dp501_fw.bin under /lib/firmware folder. However, it's popping up with error and saying "no such file" under the path. What is the this about and will it impact driver setting?
Answer
This firmware is hardcoded inside Linux ast c-script file. It does not impact the regular operation. For fixing this type of problem or warning message, you can download ast firmware file and place it in /lib/firmware folder. Or, you can modify the code to ignore this matter. You can also change the name of the file to the latest version that you have and it will not show anymore while launching kernel or grub with ast driver assignment.
