Simply because this hardware is present in many comercially available laptops and we need to know what hardware to support in the future. For this, we need precise identification first (VendorID:ProductID), so I took the chance to test the hardware directly and report details... :)

Please note, any hardware attached to a mainboard that is made by Intel after circa 2009 currently requires a proprietary blob to initialise the mainboard so any hardware part of this cannot be considered compatible with fully freed systems.
