[p]This inkjet printer and scanner seems to work with Trisquel 5.5. You will need to install
the Xsane Image scanning program to use the printerś scanner. Also, in order for a normal user to use the scanner you must add the following line to /lib/udev/rules.d/40-libsane.rules.[/p]
# Brother MFC-J220
#Brother scanners
ATTRS{idVendor}=="04f9", ATTRS{idProduct}=="0259", MODE="0664", ENV{libsane_matched}="yes"
Note: If your running Trisquel 64 bit version, you will need to install ia32-libs.

[p]The MFC-J220 has a built-in fax. No PC required. The printer has four mode keys: Fax,scan,copy and photo capture. Unfortunately, I couldn´t get the printer to scan to the computer using the printerś scan key. It sends a 0 byte PNM image to a brscan folder in my home directory (Iḿ working on it). As far as photo capture goes, just stick a sd card in the printerś slot and you pick the image you want to print looking through the printerś LCD screen. The Fax and copy keys work as well.[/p]

[p]Other keys on the control panel are Black Start, (making copies in black and white) Color Start, Stop/Exit (Stops an operation or exits the menu) and an On/Off key. Note: you will have to rely on the printerś control panel to monitor your ink levels. Scanning and printing from the computer is fine.[/p]
