All thinkpads have a Wifi card whitelist at the BIOS level that prevent installing certain WiFi cards. The restriction can be bypassed with a BIOS modification: either installing Libreboot, Coreboot or editing the official Lenovo/IBM BIOS.
The SD card reader works perfectly well.BIOS shows the error message:
1802: Unauthorized network card is plugged in - Power off and remove the miniPCI network card.When attempting to install a wireless mini-PCI card not in the list approved by IBM. See ThinkWiki.
