Comes shipped with Windows 8 or Windows 8 Pro, therefore UEFI Secure Boot is enabled by default: make sure you disable it in the UEFI settings (press F2 at boot) before installing a non-signed distro.

Video acceleration is supported natively for the Intel i915 chip (through the i915 driver), however using the nVidia card may require the installation of bumblebee.
Even if you're not planning to use the nVidia card, the included nouveau driver will still keep the nVidia card enabled, thus producing heat; install bbswitch and disable the card using
