Comes shipped with Windows 8 or Windows 8 Pro, therefore UEFI Secure Boot is enabled by default: make sure you disable it in the UEFI settings (press F2 at boot) before installing a non-signed distro.

Comes in different variants with more or less disk space and different CPUs:

  • Intel® Core™ i7 3537U/3517U
  • Intel® Core™ i5 3317U
  • Intel® Core™ i3 3217U
HDD is 320GB, 500GB, 750GB or 1000GB, with an optional 24GB SSD.

Video acceleration is supported natively for the Intel i915 chip (through the i915 driver), however using the nVidia card may require the installation of bumblebee.

Even if you're not planning to use the nVidia card, the included nouveau driver will still keep the nVidia card enabled, thus producing heat; install bbswitch and disable the card using

sudo sh -c "echo OFF > /proc/acpi/bbswitch"
