Thanks for your contribution! Could you please add the outputs from lspci -vmmnn, lspci -nnk and sudo lsusb -v to the description like in this page? It would help. Tho more we know the better.

Unfortunately my configuration has changed for the time being due to an experiment. As soon as it returns to normal I would be happy to assist.

According to the update, the BCM43224 should work. However, in dmesg it's still coming up with "missing free firmware" messages and is causing both wicd and ifconfig to actually completely freeze when they're both run. Are we sure that there isn't any firmware being loaded that makes this chipset work?

Also, I'll try to remind myself in the morning to post the lspci/lsusb results. I need sleep.

I'll have everything shipshape again here by the end of the weekend and I'll put it all out there. I do know that it definitely worked with brcmsmac for me, though, and remember when it started working because I was waiting on the chance to switch. I made the update without putting up the device info. My bad.
