Most likely the webcam will work.

As far as I managed to find, K40AB has the same model of web camera (CNF7129) as the K50AB. The K50AB's camera (also CNF7129) works fine under Trisquel 5.0.

Hi vladimir, where have you found this info (webcam model)? Inside the web page of the K40AB notebook? Perhaps we could use it to complete the notebook page

I studied the Asus web site. There is no information about the concrete model of the web camera. Still, the description (1.3 Mega Pixel web camera) of the web camera for K50AB coincides with the description of the web camera for K40AB.
I also found a lot of web pages that suggest to download "Asus K40AB Notebook Chicony CNF-7129 Camera Driver".
So, I added the model of the web camera to the K40AB page.
