differences in the entry: Description
[p]In order to get wireless connectivity and in order to hear audio from the audio jack on Trisquel 4.0 one needs to install updates (which include a newer kernel) and to enable wireless connectivity in the BIOS.[/p]
[p]To get the internal microphone working I upgraded the alsa-driver code as mentioned here:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Audio/InstallingLinuxAlsaDriverModules
This is what needs to be done:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntu-audio-dev/ppa
sudo aptitude update
sudo aptitude install linux-alsa-driver-modules-$(uname -r)
Then restart the computer and in gnome-alsamixer (if you don't have it install it via apt-get) set mic boost to 0%, capture to 90% and remaining controls to 100%. [/p]
[p]To get FN keys type this command in the terminal:
sudo gedit /etc/default/grub
and replace
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash"
by
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash acpi_osi=Linux"
Ubuntu's help page recommends replacing the line by the one below for better power management
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash acpi_osi=Linux acpi_backlight=vendor"
as you can see here:
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/EeePC/Fixes
Then type in the terminal
sudo update-grub
[/p]
[p]To disable the clicking sound when battery is used just type this in the terminal:
sudo hdparm -B 254 /dev/sda
[/p]
In order to save this setting add the following lines to /etc/hdparm.conf:
/dev/sda {
apm_battery = 254
}
[p]Note also that this netbook can be purchased without Windows preinstalled.[/p]
[p]Here are the outputs:[/p]
