Thanks - I've removed these spam instances, and a few more I noticed. I seem to remember there was a separate admin tool to grant moderator rights. I'm not really involved any more, I've forgotten how to access this admin tool, and I don't know if there're any processes these days for becoming a moderator, so will leave that part for someone else to do.
