Beschreibung:
HOlas......

Hi, the problem is: I do not know how to get the VendorID:ProductID of the parallel port devices. Hola, el problema es que no se como obtener el VendorID:ProductID de los dispositivos de puerto paralelo

AFAIK, the parallel port doesn't support the ID classification of the device. It works on a lower level of communication Interrupt request (IRQ) that won't fetch device's information.

Maybe the devices that work only with parallel port should be reassigned with a different identification.

I've found that parallel port should be marked as "Communication controller" by lspci, but sometimes it is not. Perhaps
dmesg | grep parport
could give something, but I'm not sure

Do you mean that we should create a vendorid_productid code for them?

Other cuestion is:

the model Deskjet 940c is too a parallel printer, but the VendorID:ProductID is not set, how to do it?

I have 2 more parallel printers to add.

This problem does not have a simple solution :) Perhaps we could start inserting inside the wiki those hardware whose VendorID:ProductID is not easy to detect until we haven't found a better solution

I've added your device inside the following wiki page: manually indexed devices. You can add there the other devices. Perhaps in the future we will be able to solve this issue.
