Habey HB-NB037H does not fully support free software
par chris, 05:16, 2 Novembre 2011
Habey HB-NB037H has a AR3011 chipset for bluetooth and AR9285 chipset for wifi on the same card. The AR3011 bluetooth chipset depends on ath3k and that has a non-free firmware requirement. This card is being incorrectly listed as being free software compatible. Only the wifi chipset is. Unless somebody can explain to me how to get the ath9k driver working with it without using ath3k. I don't think this is possible. The ath9k simply makes loading the ath3k driver possible and firmware. As a result it works in Ubuntu and not Trisquel.
It works in my laptop

"As a result it works in Ubuntu and not Trisquel."

I don't know any deep level details about this card, but I resently upgraded my Dell Vostro 3300 laptop with it and it works. I have Trisquel 5.5 installed.

Are you sure?

Maybe the AR9285 supports it now although I doubt it. Can you boot from a live CD with Trisquel 5.5 and see if the bluetooth portion works? It shouldn't. If it does what driver is it using? Is ATH3k loaded? Is ATH9K loaded? I should have one of these laying around somewhere. If I can find it and find the time to check it I will.

I meant to say that the wifi works. I don't know if the bluetooth chip on the card works. I booted from the live CD and bluetooth seems to work, but this might be Vostro 3300's original bluetooth device.

Anyway, I searched those drivers which you mentioned and this is what I found:

sudo lsmod
Module Size Used by
ath9k 112711 0
bluetooth 148839 23 bnep,rfcomm,btusb

I didn't find any mention about ath3k.

ath3k

I've tested it before and it does not work. The reason it does not work is because the firmware is non-free. It's the bluetooth portion which is dependent on the non-free firmware. Not the wireless portion. It doesn't seem like it is worth my time to test. You're probably seeing some other bluetooth device and not this cards bluetooth.

I added a note about this to the device's description.
