  1. Does not work out of the box! Trisquel 6 is based on 12.04 Ubuntu.

    Therefore looking at HPLIP PPA will show you there is no compiled version since they froze the updates at 3.12.2. Minimum version for this to work is 3.12.6.

  2. Install latest version of HPLIP via -

    Download Wizard: http://hplipopensource.com/hplip-web/install_wizard/index.html

    Get build dependencies:

    sudo apt-get install --assume-yes avahi-utils libcups2 cups libcups2-dev cups-bsd cups-client libcupsimage2-dev libdbus-1-dev build-essential ghostscript openssl libjpeg-dev libsnmp-dev libtool libusb-1.0.0-dev wget python-imaging policykit-1 policykit-1-gnome gtk2-engines-pixbuf python-qt4 python-qt4-dbus python-dbus python-gobject python-dev python-notify python python-reportlab libsane libsane-dev sane-utils xsane

    Note: Do a custom build as root and choose Ubuntu and then 12.04 manually - since wizard fails to detect "trisquel".

  3. HPLIPS will ask you to install NON-FREE HP-PLUGIN. This is a major red-flag. You agree to an EULA just like on Windows and loose freedom.

  4. Printer prints fine but it is not libre; and the non-free blob is REQUIRED to run.
