The report mentions that the test was effectuated using 'Debian GNU/Linux Testing', which is NOT a fully free GNU/Linux-Libre distribution.
http://www.gnu.org/distros/free-distros.html
This does NOT guarantee that components, such as the WiFi card, may function on a 100% free distribution like Trisquel.
Re: This Review Is Flawed
so?
i haven't seen any message saying that the degree of support is dependent of the fact that you're running a linux with or without firmware installed.
if the purpose of h-node is to cover only hardware that works without firmware, which i don't believe it is, then you can stop right there - no reasonably modern comodity system works without firmware these days.
Re: This Review Is Flawed
alright, i see:
"The h-node project aims to create and maintain a comprehensive hardware database in order to identify what devices work with fully free operating systems and which do not."
this has been kind of misleadingly communicated/advertised as something different during a talk at debconf.
i'll remove the hardware entry, thanks.
You can use Debian actually, but...
You can use Debian "with only the main archive area enabled" as stated on the homepage. The "contrib" and "non-free" areas must not be enabled when testing hardware.
