Graphics

No AMD GPU works with 3d acceleration without using nonfree firmware. I've changed it here, write if it's not true.
How can I be sure?

I thought 3D acceleration worked on this computer (maybe was the time when I used ubuntu). You may be right but how can I be sure ? - I have no Desktop Environment.

Try "glxinfo | grep renderer", it doesn't work if it lists e.g. llvmpipe. My /var/log/Xorg.0.log for an older Radeon has "GPU accel disabled or not working, using shadowfb for KMS", "Direct rendering disabled" and other messages showing that acceleration isn't used.

Ubuntu has the nonfree firmware that this driver uses.

"glxinfo | grep renderer" -> OpenGL renderer string: Mesa DRI Intel(R) Ironlake Mobile x86/MMX/SSE2 On /var/log/Xorg.0.log: '3D buffers tiled'. What does tiled means?
Different GPU?

Maybe it has both Intel and AMD GPUs with the Intel one being used and having working 3d acceleration? I don't know how this should be marked here.

Please add the "lspci -nn" and "lsusb" output to the device description. It should also show what wifi and webcam it has.

Tiling is an optimization of graphics memory use.

That must be it.

ok Thanks.
