Hi, i would like to point out a Hardware Tool that is being developed by [a]Thomas Dennis|http://trisquel.info/en/users/gobusto[/a] on the Trisquel's users community. I was wondering that at some state this program could use the h-node project database and inform about the hardware compatibility on the machine running a fully free operating distro, but also gather this info from the installed machine with a Libre Kernel to the h-node site. This way completing the feedback loop, creating the database for hardware compatible with fully free operating systems.
Response message (from h-node.com):

Hello,

>I was wondering that at some state this program could use the h-node project database and inform about the hardware compatibility on the machine running a fully free operating distro

the h-node hardware database will be accessible in xml format as soon as possible (I think in the next few days). In this way one could develop a desktop software in order to parse the h-node xml database and inform the user on the compatibility of its hardware.

>but also gather this info from the installed machine with a Libre Kernel to the h-node site.

Yes, one should develop a desktop client that can send an http request to the right page of h-node.com attaching the hardware informations via a POST request (as it was an HTML form). I could give all the necessary informations. Anyway, one can see the source code of the page containing the forms to insert or edit an hardware.

thanks

Antonio

Great initiative. Thank you very much and thank you very much for h-node. We will have a 200 member team to start reporting hardware in a couple of months or less. I ran the the software. It will not login to the h-node database. Could it be that the server on preferences is www.sandbox.h-node.com/ ?

A 200 member team to start reporting hardware? Great news!

I propose to use h-client (see here) since it is already usable and ready to be connected to h-node.com. It's almost finished, there are only some minor features that should be finished.

You can login to h-node by changing the server on the preferences page
