yes, this is a real problem. I suppose we should start to save also the subvendorid, subproductid and the revision. Those codes can be found using lspci -vmmnn
here is an example (this is my videocard):
Slot: 05:00.0
Class: VGA compatible controller [0300]
Vendor: nVidia Corporation [10de]
Device: G86 [GeForce 8400M GS] [0427]
SVendor: Hewlett-Packard Company [103c]
SDevice: Device [30cf]
Rev: a1
the SVendor, SDevice and Rev fields don't have been considered, it's my fault.. anyway, not all the devices have those subcodes.. so it should be an optional entry..
The new entry could be called "subvendor:subproduct:rev"
Anyway, this problem should arise only in the case of PCI devices.
We should also specify in the help page how to find those subcodes
Do any of you have some different solution?
