Talk page - acquisition card SAA7130 Video Broadcast Decoder (rev 01)
LifeView/Typhoon FlyVIDEO2000 has the same VendorID:ProductID
by aloniv, 06:22, 6 May 2011
Should it be added seperately? Here's the info regarding the FlyVIDEO2000 card: lspci -nnk
00:0a.0 Multimedia controller [0480]: Philips Semiconductors SAA7130 Video Broadcast Decoder [1131:7130] (rev 01)
	Kernel driver in use: saa7134
	Kernel modules: saa7134
This TV card works fine using TVtime if I select France as the region. I also did the following (as suggested in Ubuntu forums):
sudo gedit /etc/modprobe.d/saa7134

and added:
#flyvideo
options saa7134 card=3 tuner=39 gbuffers=4

sudo gedit /etc/modules

and added:
saa7134 card=3 gbuffers=4
Same firmware

I knew that the firmware would be used in more than one device. We should talk about this on the list, see what to do in this case. I'm not sure.
we should add the subcodes..

problem solved
by tonicucoz, 10:50, 14 May 2011

we have solved the problem by adding a new entry for the device name

the model name contains the name obtained by lspci or lsusb

the "other names" contains the name written on the device itself or on the device box

Fancy!
by Ark74, 11:09, 14 May 2011

Uh, this is a fancy way to solve this issue. Just one question, would the usb name (from lspci) be inmutable to changes, so the name would not change with the incoming time, releases and upgrades.

If not, i see this as the best option ;)
thanks

Thanks :)

I'm not sure about the fact that the lspci name won't change with time. I hope so ;)

In this way we have avoided to use other codes such as the subvendor and subproduct and so on

It's nice the way you have thought to structure the description entry ;)

The solution doesn't work

I received this error when I tried to add the TV card again: VendorID:ProductID is already present in the database. This means that the device you are trying to insert is already in the database
add only the name inside the other name entry
by tonicucoz, 17:39, 28 May 2011
Hi aloniv, you don't have to insert a new device, just add the other name of the device (LifeView/Typhoon FlyVIDEO2000) inside the entry named "possible other names of the device" in a new row.. so the users will know that it is the same device having a different name.. thanks
OK I added it...

...and used the name which appears on the box (LifeView FlyVideo 2000).
Here is a list of devices...

...which use the same chip: http://www.linuxtv.org/wiki/index.php/Saa713x_devices (The linuxtv website also contains useful information regarding how to use some of the cards.)
